Since 2007, IHECS has been welcoming students from Moldova State University to help them to develop their communication and media skills, discovering Belgium and the city of Brussels. Thanks to the Erasmus + program, four Moldovan students have the opportunity to study for one semester and discover Belgian culture.

Moldova, a small country with great wealth
Not all Belgians would know where to find this country on a map, whether because of its small size, its discretion or its geopolitical situation. And yet, Moldova’s landscapes are very familiar to them. Indeed, Tintin’s creator Hergé drew much of his inspiration from this small country when he invented Syldavia, the imaginary land in which the famous character has many adventures.
Despite its lack of popularity, Moldova abounds in precious resources, such as the diversity of its landscapes and a highly developed heritage with museums and historical monuments to visit.
From Chisinau to Brussels
During the second semester of 2022-2023, IHECS was lucky to welcome 4 students straight from the University of Moldova. As soon as they arrived in Brussels, Demetria, Ioana, Maria and Olivia were impressed not only by the city, but also by the Belgian climate, quite different from that of their native country. They were also impressed by the capital’s cultural diversity and constant liveliness. Despite these differences, they quickly adapted to the rhythm of their host institution’s theoretical and practical courses, which were not necessarily taught in the same way as in Moldavia. Throughout their mobility, they were able to acquire awealth of practical knowledge in the field of communication and learn to work with students from all over the world.
The benefits of mobility are not just professional. In fact, it brings just as many on a personal level. Living in a country other than our own develops our ability to adapt, our autonomy and pushes us out of our comfort zone…
